In Y6 children continue studying the National Curriculum started in Y1 and cover all the same subjects. The classrooms are well equipped, with all the latest ICT equipment, such as interactive whiteboards, digital cameras and laptops. In Y6 your child will be given regular homework and encouraged to read at home every night. Children are assessed regularly and their progress discussed regularly with parents at termly parent’s evenings
Throughout the year staff will be working with our local secondary schools to prepare the children for transfer (School Transition)
Your child will be assessed regularly and at the end of the year you will be advised what National Curriculum level they have achieved.
Currently children sit an end of year test in May (SAT’s test). These tests are very important in checking the level your child has achieved before he or she transfers to secondary school.
The Y6 teachers will talk to you throughout the year to advise how you can help to prepare and support your child.
